Overview
The origins of Middlesex University date back to the late 1880s and it is now widely regarded as an excellent international provider of higher education, with outstanding academic credentials an highly employable and successful graduates. Based in north London, the University attracts more than 22,000 students, of whom 5,500 are international students from over 130 countries. The University also has partnerships with over 300 institutions worldwide and has recently established its first overseas campus, situated in Dubai within the prestigious Knowledge Village complex.While this diversity and size makes Middlesex one of the largest universities in the UK, all of its campuses are small enough to be friendly and welcoming.
Programmes Middlesex is renowned for its modern and innovative programmes, gaining top grades for quality assurance and standards, as well as an overall mark of ‘Excellence’ in all 11 subjects inspected since the year 2000. Many of our programmes are professionally accredited and we continually introduce new courses in line with student demand. The University offers over 100 undergraduate courses. Middlesex University has one of the best research standings among modern universities in London, and our innovation in education has been rewarded by three Queen’s Anniversary Prizes for Higher and Further Education.
Facilities All UK-based Middlesex University students are based at one of the six major campuses, depending on programme of study. Each campus has its own learning resource centre and we have received top marks for learning resources in each of the last 15 subject Quality Assurance Agency assessments. The enviable range of facilities includes the Human Performance Laboratory at Archway, extensive studio facilities and performance spaces at Trent Park, and purposebuilt fine art studios at Cat Hill. Library facilities include the new Sheppard Library, part of a £50m redevelopment at Hendon campus. Middlesex has also invested £3m in biosciences over the last two years, and facilities at Enfield are among the best in the UK.We also have veterinary nursing laboratories, psychology laboratories and the Asante Academy of Chinese Medicine. Scholarships and funding The Chancellor’s Scholarships reward academic, sporting or community/cultural excellence and are open to all international students.
Accommodation As an international student, you have a guaranteed place in University accommodation for your first year. Middlesex offers self-catering accommodation in single study-bedrooms, some en-suite, across nine halls of residence. All of the rooms have IT network points. There is also the option of private rented accommodation. Our housing accreditation scheme with two of our local authorities means we can help you find accommodation that meets designated standards for safety, security and comfort.
Student life At Middlesex you will find sport and leisure facilities on every campus.We offer everything from archery and aerobics to table tennis and tai chi as well as a range of competitive sports teams.
The Students’ Union supports a number of societies – cultural, artistic, social and fun – and there are always opportunities for setting up something new. The Centre for International Education also organises a social programme, with events exploring London as well as trips to other parts of the UK and the rest of Europe.
