Cost of Living The cost of living for students in Derbyshire is amongst the lowest in the UK, and much cheaper than you'd find in cities like London or Manchester. Below you'll find an approximate idea about the costs for a single student. Expenditure per week in:
Rent (heating, lighting & water) - £55 Food - £25 Travel to University on Unibus - £4 per week Books & course costs - £5 Telephone - £5 TV/Video rentals - £4 Clothes - £10 Entertainment/going out - £20 Total: £128.00 Don't forget that you'll need to add on your international travel costs. It's also useful to remember that everybody funds their cost of living differently and some people spend more money on one thing than another. For example, if you come from a very warm country, you may need to buy more winter clothes.

Accommodation In most cases, University accommodation is available for international students throughout their course. The self-catering Halls of Residence are modern, centrally heated and secure. Living in the Halls is a good way to make lots of friends in a close community atmosphere, but where you can still preserve your privacy. The city and region Centrally located within England, the City of Derby acts as a transport hub between London and the north, and shares an international airport with the city of Nottingham.
The city is a modern, cosmopolitan centre, home to many international companies such as Rolls-Royce, Egg, Toyota, Royal Crown Derby Porcelain and Bombardier and supports a population of around 225,000.
Derby has many cafes, bars, pubs and nightclubs catering for a wide range of tastes and there is a good selection of museums, theatres, large and small concert venues and art galleries.
