The University of Hertfordshire (UH)The University of Hertfordshire (UH), based at Hatfield and St Albans, has over 22,000 students and is one of the largest universities in the United Kingdom. It is also England’s fastest growing university with over 2,500 international students from more than 85 countries around the world.

In 2004 the University’s international commitment was rewarded with the prestigious Queen’s Award which demonstrated its global reputation and dedication to providing a first class service to all overseas students. Continual investment in all areas ensures that the Hertfordshire students of today will be the professional and commercial successes of tomorrow.

The University of Hertfordshire has the perfect location just 25 minutes by train from London in the beautiful Hertfordshire countryside. The University’s two campuses in Hatfield are only ten minutes walk apart and are safe, attractive places to live and study.

The University of Hertfordshire (UH)You will find everything you need on campus: accommodation, a shop and sports centre as well as academic buildings and computing and library facilities. The Law School, based in the historic market town of St Albans, is easily accessible using the University bus service.

The University of Hertfordshire prides itself on its graduate employability record and one of the reasons for its success in this area is its excellent business links, with many programmes offering the opportunity for a year out in industry. The University’s Careers Service provides first class guidance to help all students make the most of the graduate opportunities available to them.

Academic Strengths
The University of Hertfordshire offers an extremely diverse range of programmes across its 19 schools of study, from Art and Design and Film and Media through Business, Computer Science and Engineering to Law, Psychology and the Biosciences. Some students come from backgrounds where English is less widely spoken and the University provides excellent English language support before and during their studies.

Teaching and learning at the University is supported by state-of-the-art facilities with an ongoing commitment to investment providing students with some of the best opportunities in the UK. Students benefit from multiaward winning Learning Resources Centres, an extensive sports village and modern accommodation, all based in a secure campus environment.

High quality integrated computing, library and media services are available in the University’s three Learning Resources Centres which are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and offer 2,900 study places and 1,500 computer workstations. There is also an extensive library collection with online information databases as well as over 500,000 printed volumes.

The Key Centre, a multi-faith and multi-cultural centre assists with concerns of an emotional, religious or practical kind and is available for anyone. The University also provides a professional free and confidential counselling service.

Student Life
The University of Hertfordshire offers an inspiring academic environment that is both varied and exciting. There is a thriving social scene on and off campus and, with London only 25 minutes away; many students take the opportunity to visit at the weekends to sample the cultural delights of the UK’s capital city.

The International Office offers dedicated support to overseas students and experienced International Office staff provide a friendly and professional service to help international students make the most of their time at the University of Hertfordshire. There are over 80 clubs and societies which range from sports, academic and recreational clubs to cultural societies. Dance and music are well represented at the University and there are frequent concerts, events and discos.
